Zagu was the brainchild of an enterprising woman, who upon receiving a degree in Food Science from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada in the year 1999 set up the franchise.
Zagu’s first authorized franchise was awarded in October 1999 in Manila, Philippines. Since then the brand has never looked back, growing to more than 500 outlets throughout the island nation today.
This pioneer of Pearl Shakes in the Philippines boasts of having blended more than million pearl shakes since its inception. The ice blended drink, served with dark, round chewy tapioca balls was born out of several months of sampling and experimental planning and rose to a roaring instant success in the region.
The brand has emerged from its initial small kiosk set up to a larger network today exceeding over 500 outlets across the nation. Zagu has won the National Consumers Quality Award and the Parangalng Bayan People Choice Award.
